In Malta, the traditional wooden fishing boats have eyes, they all have almost the same shape with different colours and details.
Eyes are looking for fish and protecting from storm and bad weather . Some other boats as sailing vessels may put other kind of eyes such as Isis’s eye like in the Egyptian writing.But those can have different meaning.
We wanted to have the same in our boat with Malta flag.
On the first idea we find a picture we like but the problem was how to make it suitable as a sticker to fix on the aluminum keel on the bow , port side and starboard . I thought the photo was not suitable because it looks like old wood and lost painting so I planned to design something nice and clear in vector with flat colours .
